Project & Business Delivery career pathways

Deliver change that works: plan and run projects, analyse how a business operates, and turn problems into requirements, including for AI and data projects.

Every AI, data and digital initiative needs people who can plan it, manage risk, understand the current process and define what "done" means. Operations, customer service, finance, admin, teaching and public-sector professionals often already do much of this without the title.

Questions about Project & Business Delivery

Other career families:

Can I become a project manager without a qualification?

Many people move into project coordinator and junior project manager roles based on experience of organising work, managing stakeholders and handling risk. Qualifications such as APM PFQ or PRINCE2 Foundation can help at CV screening; SprintPivot focuses on the evidence behind them: plans, RAID logs and status reports you can walk an interviewer through.

What is the difference between a project manager and a business analyst?

A project manager is responsible for delivering an agreed outcome on time, within budget and at acceptable risk. A business analyst works out what should change and why: understanding the current process, the problem and the requirements. On many teams the two roles work side by side.

Do these roles still matter with AI tools?

Yes, and they increasingly cover AI projects themselves. Organisations adopting AI need people to define use cases, requirements, acceptance criteria, risks and benefits. Both pathways include AI-specific modules and a sandbox project on an AI feature.

I work in the public sector. Is this relevant?

Yes. Several sandbox projects are set in UK public-sector and housing contexts and use GOV.UK Service Manual and HM Treasury Green Book approaches, which are also widely used by suppliers and consultancies.
